孟mèng子zǐ曰yuē：「仁rén也yě者zhě，人rén也yě；合hé而ér言yán之zhī，道dào也yě。」

Mencius said, 'Benevolence is the distinguishing characteristic of man. As embodied in man's conduct, it is called the path of duty.'
